Creating New Christmas Traditions, A Caribbean-Nigerian Couple

My perspective: Christmas in The Caribbean Christmas Traditions. For me, I didn’t grow up in a home that celebrated Christmas. My family is Adventist by faith and they have different rules/views in regards to Christmas. This means that as a child, I never read Christian Christmas Stories, I never decorated a Christmas tree nor put up Christmas lights, I never went Christmas shopping, I never laid cookies out for Santa and I never had presents to open on Christmas morning. I also never felt like I was at a disadvantage. You see, I grew up in the Caribbean and while for some Caribbean people Christmas is a “huge deal” for others…

    All About Blogmas

Hey Yall. It’s Mid-December! This time of year all the decorations should be up and all spirits lifted.  For me, I have done everything but my Christmas Shopping. My hope is to get it done this week. But first I need to tell you all about Blogmas.  Blogmas is a bloggers challenge that occurs every year. The aim of the challenge is to publish one (1) blog post every day from December 1st to 25th.  These posts should generally surround a Christmas theme. Yay! This is great for me because Christmas is my favorite time of year As you may know, I officially started my blog in October 2018 so…

I am in love with Poetry- Featuring Al Flemming

Serenity   Familiar. The wind commands the attention of not only my body, But my soul, As my very being is lifted gently by the salty surprise that each breath provides. A feeling all too familiar. My eyelids collapse for a mere moment as I feel truly at peace. Alas, This is when she catches me off-guard. Her waves creep up on me softly. Disguised by the spell which the wind has cast. Her touch is gentle. Her waves brush my feet as the sand massages my sole. But she is a shy one. When I turn to greet her, She retreats from my grasp. Yet the white carpet that…

Emotional Needs are some of the most important aspects of any relationship. Everyone has needs which must be met for life to be thought of as worthwhile and even sustained. Blogger Recognition Award

Do not leave for tomorrow, what can be done today. Hey Kings and Queens, so its Thursday and usually we have our ‘motivated people’ feature. However, for this week I am interrupting regular programming to bring you a special broadcast *Dramatic Music*. About a week ago, I was nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award. I must say that I was extremely shocked to have received this award, I will tell you why below. I must also say that I am extremely grateful to have received it (my smile is as wide as the ocean kind of grateful). I wanna take this opportunity to congratulate Tia from Tropical Tide on her…

    Gratitude will Change Your Life.

We all know gratitude to be an emotion in which we express appreciation for the things we have. When you are showing or expressing gratitude you ignore the ‘i wish I had’ thoughts and thank god for what you do have. But, how many of us practice gratitude on a daily basis? The sad truth is, not many people give thanks for what they have without thinking of what they do not have. This practice has also been enhanced with the social media era which often causes people to be in constant comparison. (I wish I had a house like that. I wish I looked like him/her). I wish, I…

    The Importance of Self Celebration.

Do you ever say to yourself ‘hey! you did well today. I am proud of you and I am going to take you to dinner?” If you have, how did that feel? Did it feel better than when that same sentence was said to you by a loved one? If you have never said that to yourself then I must say you are missing out on the opportunity; to be your own inspiration, to be enough for yourself, to show yourself true self-love, to take charge of your own happiness. But, there is good news. ALL that STOPS today. Henceforth, you will celebrate yourself. The art of knowing yourself  A…
