7 Inspirational Music Quotes and Sayings

Music is life, there is no debating this either. Without music I don’t think I would ever be able to survive some days. When times are rough music,  music quotes and sayings always saves the day. When I am sad, funny music quotes cheer me up. When I am happy, I dance to music. When I need to study or focus, classical music soothes my mind.  Music is truly irreplaceable.

7 Quotes from 7 Genres

Gospel Music

Tasha Cobbs-  You know my Name: I love this song because I use it as a positive affirmation. You have to speak positivity over your life. You have to recognize the good powers that keep you here and keep you protected. Yes, bad things happen, but great things happen too. Listen to this song.

No fire can burn me
No battle can turn me
No mountain can stop me
‘Cause You hold my hand
And I’m walking in Your victory
‘Cause Your power is within me
No giant can defeat me

Conscious Reggae Music

Buju Banton- Wanna be Loved: Honestly, I would love to put this entire song. This song is so amazing because love is important.

Love is what we live for,  to have a strong connection with someone. Love is truly a blessing. It feels so good to be loved for who you are; not what you have, not what you can do for someone. Real Love! It is even better when you love that person back. This is what Buju was searching for. I Pray everyone finds their person, their other half, and experience love from friends and family.

Wanna be loved
Not for who you think I am
Nor what you want me to be
Could you love me for me?

Real love, with no strings attached
I wanna give you me heart
Don’t want to take it back
This is my chat-cho

Ps: Buju Banton was just released from prison and I am super excited to see what music he has in store for us. Welcome Back Buju.

Afrobeat Music

Wizkid – Ojuelegba: This resonates with me because Wizkid highlights the struggles of life, he then moves on to say you must have faith and call on God to help you along the way. But he doesn’t just stop there. He moves on to show gratitude, being thankful is so important. Wizkid demonstrates that though life his hard, you must always remain grateful. Listen to this song

“Kilo dale – What has happened
Aiye o le to yen o – Life is not that hard
Aiye o ni double – We don’t have 2 lives
Adura lo le se o – Only prayer can do it
Call on daddy… baba God
Adura a gba o – prayers will be answered
Tisu eni ba dele – don’t flaunt your riches
A fowo bo n je

I am feeling good tonight
This thing got me thanking God for life
Oh, I can’t explain
I can’t explain eh yea”

Soca Music

Tian Winter- Aint Got Time for that: From this song, four stanzas/lines are my absolute favorite. The first two speak about something that everyone needs to do. GET RID OF STRESS.  I for one need to learn more ways “to dash wey ma stress”.

Stress is not good! It contributes to so many health problems. For me when I am stressed my whole body shuts down, do you experience this? Thank god for music though, it helps. Listen to this song.

“Ah dashing wey ma stress

and

throwin wey mah problem”

  • Tian Winter

“tell them ah ready

ah tekin off the load

freeing up my mind

ah don’t wanna explode”

  • Tian Winter

The last two, speak about getting rid of negative vibes, negative energy, and negative people. It is so important to surround yourself with positive and inspirational people.

“only good Vybz up in here”- Tian Winter

“we ain’t got time,

cant hold we dung

the negative vybz

don’t want them around”

  • Tian Winter

Pop Music

Nicki Minaj- AutoBiography: I love this line because, again, Positive Affirmations.  When times get hard, you have to pray and hope for better days. You also have to try to find an outlet. Find effective and positive ways to cope. Writing is my outlet, Music is Nicki Minaj’s outlet, what yours? Listen to this song here

“May the Lord protect me as the world gets hectic

   (I’ll keep trying)

My voice projected my life reflected

(keep, keeping on)”

  • Nicki Minaj

Hip Hop Music

Tupac- Dear Mama: I love this song and this line for many reasons. It recognizes the hardships of being a single mother.  I grew up in a single parent home and it was not easy, so shout out to all single mothers.

To all the children raised by single mothers, you’ll make it! Just keep pushing! You’ll graduate, you’ll get that job, you’ll buy mom that house, you’ll take care of her, you’ll do everything you said you would.

This line also shows how important it is to let the people in your life know that you appreciate them. Spread love daily. Listen to this.

“A poor single mother on welfare, tell me how ya did it
There’s no way I can pay you back

But the plan is to show you that I understand
You are appreciated”

  • Tupac Shakur

Christmas Carols/songs

Dolly Parton: Hard Candy Christmas- So, the season is here, Christmas is just a great time of year. But, being that I recognize the importance of mental health, I must speak on Seasonal Affective Disorder and all the stress that can come with Christmas. This affects so many people and I just want to say that you will be okay. Listen to this song

“Fine and dandy

Lord it’s like a hard candy Christmas

I’m barely getting through tomorrow

But still, I won’t let

Sorrow bring me way down”

  • Dolly Parton

Bonus:

“Aeyeaa! Mi affi give the most high praise!

For the air I breathWoo!

For the rivers and treesAnd so mi sing

Halle hallelujah

Halle hallelujah

Halle hallelujah

Halle hallelujah”

  • Burna Boy

“ah little different
