My answers to her Questions
- Do you celebrate Christmas? Or do you celebrate another winter holiday, like Hanukkah? Or, perhaps you don’t celebrate at all. I would like to hear about your traditions!
Growing up I never celebrated Christmas because my family is Seventh Day Adventists. However, now that I live on my own I choose which aspects to celebrate. I am also taking the time to learn and appreciate other people’s traditions.
- What is your favorite holiday tradition?
I am slowly developing traditions because I am still new to it all, I would say that I don’t have a favorite as yet.
- What are the holidays like in the country where you are from?
The Holiday’s in the country that I’m from is centered around family and food. Many people do not celebrate Christmas because of their religious beliefs while others celebrate as much as they can. If you would like to read more then you can view my Christmas in the Caribbean post.
- What is your favorite holiday food?
My favorite holiday food is Jamaican Black Christmas Cake. You can read more about this in my All About Christmas Food Post.
- What is your favorite holiday song?
My favorite holiday song is Christmas Without You by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers.
- If you were going to visit a church or place of worship on the holidays, what could that people there do to make you feel more at home?
A warm welcome is all that is needed for me to feel at home in a new church. However, I typically attend church online and I’m not set on any Christian Denomination.
- What is your favorite holiday movie?
I love all Christmas movies, there is no way I can pick one.
But, I am waiting and pretty excited to watch A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding.
- What is your favorite holiday book?
I’ve never read any holiday books. I would love to read some if I get good suggestions.
- What is your favorite holiday memory?
I’m not sure, because Christmas wasn’t celebrated in my home. If I had to pick though I would say going out on Christmas Eve with my friends. I started working at a clothing store when I was 14 years old so my friends and I would always walk around and shop after work on Christmas Eve night.
- What do you want for Christmas/Hanukkah/ Kwanzaa/ Winter Solstice/ the holidays?
I just want a few things { a book, a camera and a tripod) I linked them in my What I want for Christmas post. What I would also like is to travel home to Antigua. I wrote all about it in my Beach and a Bread shop post.
- What is your favorite present that you have ever received?
I don’t remember ever receiving any Christmas presents as a child.
In University we had pixie gift exchanges and I got some nice items, I’m not sure it that counts. But, maybe this year I will get something.
- What Christmas gift do you recommend for my spouse? I’m so bad at purchasing presents! (Also- if you have a holiday gift guide, please leave a link in the comments!)
If he likes to read, I would recommend a reading pillow. It looks super comfortable and warm. You can find the link in my Christmas Gift Guide for Him
